Gentry Creek Farm is 100 acres of
Horse Retirement Paradise!
We feel we've found a little piece of paradise, and imagine the horses feel the same once they arrive! With the cool summer climate, the sound of the rushing stream, the privacy and serenity of this natural setting ~ It all adds up to making this a very magical place!
It is our intention to see that your horse receives the care due him in his latter years of life as well as to be sensitive to his level of contentment and enjoyment. This includes many things. We believe care of a horse is more than food and water....it includes making sure he is with a buddy he likes, in a pasture he feels at home in, personal attention and awareness of subtle changes in appetite and mood....etc. We feel that there is no substitute for the years of experience that it takes to notice these subtleties.
Retirement here means:
*A serene, quiet environment for your beloved equine,
*Regular communication with you regarding your horses welfare,
*Monthly photos via e-mail,
*Quality care and personal treatment by professionals who watch carefully
for signs of illness, lameness, depression, anxiety etc.
Many High Quality Performance horses are donated to Equidon, Inc.
WHY DO PEOPLE DONATE?
There are numerous reasons:
~Performance issues, ~Behavioral problems, ~Burnout,
~Unwilling to go thru the hassle of "marketing",
~Their horse doesn't vet out,
~Divorce, death ,
~Unexpected move,
~Unable to get the
price they paid.
Many horse owners simply want to be more selective in where their horse goes, they want a say in his future. Donating makes this possible. It is our intention to match horse and rider. Our goal is to "hear" what it is that the horse wants to be doing, then find him a best friend so they can do it together.
For the horses with "issues" ~ we go to great lengths to correct what we can...be it chiropractic work, body work and massage, re-schooling, etc....
Amy Mitchell is an outstanding trainer with a wonderful gift for helping even the most complicated of horses. Often with show horses, the best medicine is simply a year of trail riding!
Currently our guests include 2 Grand Prix jumpers, one lovely Dressage Schoolmaster, and several T.B.'s all here on vacation from their stressful lifestyle and all enjoying the realization that life can be about more than just "work"!
